Shy Seaman
Licensed Professional Counselor, MEd, L.P.C., CCTP
Negative events have affected each and every one of us at some point. I am committed to digging deep with you in therapy. Are you ready to: Cleanse wounds so they can heal? -Empower yourself? -Learn to cope? -Strengthen relationships? Without judgement, I will work with you in the trenches no matter the depths. The counseling relationship is unique because it is non-judgmental and confidential in a safe, supportive environment. Together, we construct your goals. I am challenging and direct in our sessions, resulting in you challenging and understanding yourself while obtaining your goals. If you prefer a quiet, laid back, head nodding therapist that minimally speaks, I am not the right fit and that is okay. Finding the RIGHT therapist for you is imperative for a successful outcome in counseling.
Finding my own strength from tragedy is exactly what motivated me to enter into the mental health profession, so I could help others find their strength and heal. My “job” is my passion. My integrated counseling approach is effective and works with my clients that do the work.
When working with couples, I tend to have a direct approach and help you both evaluate what you need to change, improve, and learn to contribute to the growth and healing of the marriage.
A Little About Me
In tragedy, I found my professional purpose in life. However, my 4 “Shybabies” aka daughters is what makes my soul full. Now, I have Shybaby #3 & #4 (twins) left at home for a couple more years. I am married to my “Heart and Soul” Jason who has always been my biggest supporter in this career. We have 4 amazing daughters and 5 furbabies that are rotten too! I have been blessed with amazing family and friends throughout my life. My favorite self-care time is spent on the lake which is my HAPPY PLACE!
In 1998, I became a teacher and taught Special Education & Kindergarten until 2005 when 2 major tragedies struck my life within 6 months. I got pregnant with my Shybaby $3 & 4 in January 2006. I chose to stay home with my children for a couple of years. Then, I owned a boutique and decided to close it to pursue my degree in counseling. I am also one of the founders of a victim’s advocacy group “Voices for Justice” that I am no longer affiliated with and a rescue group formed during Hurricane Harvey, “Southeast Texas Navy”.
