Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) is the primary service I offer as I am nationally certified in TFCBT. I primarily see clients of all ages who have experienced some type of trauma in their life such as all forms of abuse, rape, active combat duty, homicide, suicide, and death. I also offer services to Crime Victims in Texas and accept Crime Victim’s Compensation for payment from the Attorney General of Texas which is the only compensation. Trauma that is not treated initially after the event often times continues to cause more symptoms and issues with mental health over time. The experience of trauma can cause PTSD as well. I compare trauma to a flesh wound. You have the option to A) slap a Band-Aid on the wound and keep going OR B) clean the wound, medicate it, cover it, and repeat until healed. Option A is going to result in a nasty, infected, painful wound that will continue to manifest without treatment. This is the same as recovering from trauma. Most of us choose to slap the Band-Aid because the wound hurts too bad to clean out but, the “wound” of trauma continues to be infected, get worse, and effect us more. Whether you choose to slap a Band-Aid or tend to the “wound”, you will always have a scar because we can not erase the trauma that happened (I ASSURE YOU I wish I COULD!). However, if you choose Option B, you can heal from trauma and round off the sharp edges so the pain is not as severe. I would be honored to assist you in healing from trauma and empowering you with the tools to recover.
