Performing Adoption Evaluations aka “Home Studies” are an Honor to This Professional…
Adoption home studies are one of my most enjoyable services I offer. I personally have went through a step-parent adoption over 10 years ago. Therefore, adoptions have a special place in my heart. I have a high expectation of myself to perform professional and thorough reports because I believe it is an honor to be a part of the process of so many growing families.
Texas laws require prospective adoptive parents to complete an evaluation usually called a home study. This report consists of interviews, and various forms of paperwork, background checks, and a home visit.
A home study will gather information about you and your family, the child’s family history, and prepare you for adoption, and evaluate your stability as an adoptive parent.
The home screening will explore the most intimate aspects of your personal life from childhood on and may seem intrusive at times. I strive to remain sensitive and respectful throughout the process which is confidential. Remember everything I ask is because the ultimate goal is to ensure that children are being adopted into a safe and loving home.
Texas requires the verification of certain aspects of any adoption home study. Your attorney or I will provide an adoption home study packet that has a list of documents and checklists needed prior to my arrival in order to prepare you and your family for the home visit.
Reports are always prepared by myself, a licensed qualifying professional, who will deliver timely, high quality, thorough studies. When selecting a home study provider, it is important to use someone you can trust, and who has the experience and knowledge to write a report that meets all Texas and federal requirements. You can rest assured your study will exceed these standards and requirements if I am chosen or court ordered to be a part of your adoption process. At this time, I primarily offer adoption evaluations for the Southeast Texas area.
